No room at the hostel, that’s what he was told
So he sleeps in a doorway and he wakes up in the cold
He could be me, he could be you
We could all have the Christmas he’s going through
So we dig in our pockets for a penny or two

Long ago in a stable, no room at the inn
Look at Mary and Joseph and the state that they were in
There’s a baby crying in the hay
There’s not much to eat, there’s nothing to say
It’s a terrible way to spend Christmas day

Read the headlines this Christmas - tell me what do they say?
They say there’s boat-loads of losers who are heading right this way
They say we’re fools to listen to the pleas
Of these vagrants, these migrants, these refugees
And they try to ban Christmas, people like these

Why won’t we remember all the love that’s ours to give?
